Pete Davies

Davies family mythology has it that Pete could sing before he could talk and that his first words were based on Frankie Vaughan’s 1950s version of “Green Door”. Whatever the truth is in this, it is a fact that he has always loved singing – he believes it is good for the mind and spirit.

Born in Bolsover in Derbyshire, Pete has spent over fifty sharing his songs both at home and abroad. Now based on Teesside, in the North East of England, Pete continues to write and perform songs on a range of subjects that move him in some way.

“North-eastern singer-songwriter Pete Davies has come up with a fine record of warm positivity. The anthem-like track ‘Miracles’ typifies this, but the mood of hopefulness and display of impressive musicianship pervades the whole collection.” Colin Bailey, The Bailey Beat

“………. Pete Davies set the tone for the evening beautifully. He reminded me of that crop of singer songwriters like Peter Bond and Paul Metsers. He had the winning combination of an effective guitar style coupled with meaningful lyrics. I particularly liked ‘Is It Ever Going To Rain?’ and ‘Go On And Dance, Joanne’…….” The Derbyshire Times

“I love his clear voice and thoughtful uplifting lyrics.” Jan Hall, Folk Roots Radio, Ontario, Canada

“Pete has been appreciated for many years for his excellent singing and superb guitar style. For me, his big appeal lies in the quality of his own melodies and lyrics. That is why I am so excited that he is writing and performing again. Before Pete, the guests at our club had all been political songwriters or “protest” singers. He may not agree with me but I believe that Pete is in there with those guys. Why? Well, simply because every line of a Pete Davies song radiates incredible warmth and humanity. You know he is one of us. Pete Davies is on our side. Cherish him.” Leigh Sayers, The Studio Club, Middlesbrough

“The combination of care, and discipline shows in the quality of his songs and performance……. Pete writes and performs songs on many contemporary themes, with moving thought provoking verses and great singalong choruses. ” Stainsby Festival

“Pete's reputation as a performer and songwriter continues to grow.” Middlesbrough Town Hall
